In Nepal, English is becoming more and more a required skill for getting a job, educational advancement and future success. The English language children learn in school is not sufficient when they can not pay for an additional English language class. These children spend their time playing rather than studying, because their guardians can’t support their studies due to their own illiteracy.

The primary purpose of the project is to offer community children the opportunity to develop their English language knowledge, help them with their homework and give them a beneficial and positive way of spending their time, rather than taking up playing and gambling. So as a volunteer you have an important role in helping the community.

Skill/Qualification:

Though no teaching experience or skill is required, volunteers joining the teaching program in Nepal should have a good command of English, both written and verbal. Volunteers are expected to be flexible and patient. You should have passion and love for teaching, English and children. Volunteer responsibilities

Volunteers in the teaching English community project mostly teach conversational English (2-3 hours a day/6 days a week) in a community learning center established by community people. Most of the children of the community are between the age of 6 and 16. In your free time you can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities. Volunteers are also expected to help with taking the kids on educational tours, helping them with their homework, monitoring academic progress, and in administration
